About TCS

  • Tata Consultancy Services Limited, initially started as "Tata Computer Systems" was founded in 1968 by division of Tata Sons Limited. Its early contracts included punched card services to sister company TISCO.
  • In 1975, TCS delivered an electronic depository and trading system called SECOM for the Swiss company SIS SegaInterSettle.
  • In 1980, TCS established India's first dedicated software research and development centre, the Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC) in Pune.
  • In 1981, it established India's first client-dedicated offshore development centre, set up for clients Tandem.
  • On 25 August 2004, TCS became a Publicly listed company.
  • In 2005, TCS became the first India-based IT services company to enter the bioinformatics market.
  • In May 2013, TCS was awarded a six-year contract worth over ₹1100 crore to provide services to the Indian Department of Posts.
  • In Jan 2015, TCS ends RIL's 23-year run as most profitable firm.
  • In Jan 2017, the company announced a partnership with Aurus, Inc., a payments technology company, to deliver payment solutions for retailers using TCS OmniStore, a first of its kind unified store commerce platform. TCS received 2019 American Business Awards from Four Stevies.
  • Tata Consultancy Services has 285 offices across 46 countries and 147 delivery centres in 21 countries. TCS had a total of 58 subsidiary companies. TCS is one of the largest private sector employers in India, and the fourth-largest employer among listed Indian companies (after Indian Railways, Indian Army and India Post).

Recruitment & Selection Procedure

TCS conducts 4 rounds to recruit new employees.

Written Exam

The written test contains four sections with time limits and cutoffs for each. * The first section contains Quantitative Aptitude. * The second section contains Programming Language Efficiency * The third and fourth section contains Coding Test and E-mail Writing Be especially careful while attempting the email questions as that is a key elimination round. See that you follow the precise instructions while attempting the question.

Managerial Interview

A lot depends on your interviewer in this round. This is the third round of the hiring process. * You could either be asked general technical and HR questions, or it could be a pressure interview to gauge your reactions. * Achievements mentioned in your CV could be questioned, and you may need to defend them. Alternatively, you could be asked general questions about your work experience, college degree, specialization, willingness to relocate, etc.

HR Interview

This is the final round of the hiring process. * Expect questions on work experience, education, hobbies and family background apart from the usual HR questions like strengths and weaknesses, etc. * Most candidates tend to think that the HR interview is easy, but remember that a bad HR interview could end your chances of getting the job. * The key here is to remain polite and confident. Interviews can be long and dreary so don’t forget to wear a smile!

Technical Round

This is the second round of the hiring process. * This round is based on your resume, branch of specialization, favorite subjects, etc. Be prepared to answer basic questions relating to each of these topics. * Don’t be surprised if you are asked to write code. Also be ready to answer puzzle questions. In certain cases, the interviewer may also try and confuse/mislead you into giving the wrong answer so watch out for such trick questions.

Aptitude Section

In aptitude, there are 10 questions that have to be answered in the time limit of 35 minutes. So concentrate on the topics given below:
